HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Fogo de Chão, a Brazilian steakhouse, is set to open its Huntington Station eatery on Dec. 6, according to a news release. The restaurant will be at Walt Whitman Shops.
The newest Fogo restaurant will mark the second on Long Island behind Carle Place, as well as the fourth in the New York metro area.
Fogo de Chão uses the centuries-old culinary art of churrasco: roasting high-quality, simply-seasoned cuts of meats over an open flame, each butchered and carved tableside by gaucho chefs. The name of the restaurant translates from Portuguese to "ground fire."

The restaurant's seasonal market table offers fresh salads and soup, exotic fruits, vegetables, imported charcuterie and more. Patrons can also order cocktails and award-winning South American wines during all-day happy hour every day in Bar Fogo or the dining room.
Fogo de Chão announced its Huntington Station location around August.

The offerings feature authentic Brazilian cuisine from steaks to desserts, as the sweets include chocolate brigadeiro, papaya cream and Brazilian-style flan.
The Huntington Station location was designed in partnership with GH+A Design Studios and will feature dry-aged meat lockers for in-house aging, soaring wine case displays, natural wood finishes, and flashy chandeliers across a tall ceiling. The dining room will be anchored by an open-air churrasco bar for guests to watch the brand's gaucho chefs butcher and prepare various cuts of meat in the center of the dining room. A white Carrara Market Table and Feijoada Bar will be in the front of the grill and will feature seasonal salads, fresh superfoods, antipasti and more.
The Huntington team will be led by General Manager Erick Cienfuegos, who started his career with Fogo in 2015 at the Manhattan location as a server, working his way up to his most recent position.
"As we prepare for the opening, I have found the community of Huntington Station to be very welcoming, similar to the warmness of our Brazilian hospitality," Cienfuegos stated via news release. "We've been fortunate to be able to bring our experience to New Yorkers for nearly 10 years, and we look forward to soon serving our Brazilian traditions to guests in Huntington Station, as well."
An estimated 130 new jobs are slated to be offered at the Huntington Station restaurant.
Applicants for both front and back jobs can visit the Fogo de Chão website or call 631-382-6161 for more information.
